A few facts about the rock ‘n’ roll legend born in Lubbock

One of the 62 bricks on the east sidewalk of Buddy Holly Avenue, between 18th and 19th streets in Lubbock, that have Holly’s song titles on them.

This weekend marks both Buddy Holly’s 78th birthday and the Buddy Holly Center’s 15th anniversary. Here are a few interesting facts in a by-the-numbers format about the rock ’n’ roll legend who was born and raised in Lubbock.

 

800: Number of Holly artifacts at The Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock’s Depot District.

3: How many of the three most iconic artifacts related to Holly—his Fender Stratocaster, his iconic glasses, and his Gibson acoustic guitar—on display at the Buddy Holly Center.

48: Number of states from which visitors came to the center in 2013.
